Southern if, and only if, you live in CVG. Otherwise, PM me for a lead you might consider.

So is Southern in dire need of crews? So what's the schedule like? What's the normal trip or pattern? Are you gone 20 straight? I live 2hrs from CVG and have an interview coming up. Or should I just run for the Direct entry Captain jobs out there?

I'll phrase it this way, atleast two in the last round of classes havnt been in airline/current in the last ten years. Both comair furloughs that found work out side of flying. Awesome for those guys to get jobs, but I do think the barrel is pretty dry.

Quote: If you get the 737 it will be a $45k a year job. You will not upgrade until you have:
"...either 2500 TT and 1000 PIC in "Large Group II Transport Category aircraft (turbojets above 41,000 lb), or 1500 SIC in Large Group II Transport Category aircraft (turbojets above 41,000 lb) and 500 hours company time."

The Guppy guys log about 500 hours a year, so you are looking at a two year upgrade to get back to what you are making now. Top out would be about $150k after 12 years. No retirement. No 401k match. Medical insurance is very expensive. And the schedules never get any better. Always 20 days on duty. Always overnight freight. And the constant threat that DHL will pull the rug out from under us and take their airplanes(all 'our' aircraft are owned by DHL) and give them to someone else to fly.

Southern is not the place most guys want to be. It works for some people. But that is the exception, not the rule.

Good luck!
Thanks for that! Will give this some consideration.

What's the normal schedule for the 737 guys? I live within driving distance of CVG. Are they out and backs or gone for the 20? thanks

Wow! We've finally gotten to the point where interested parties are unwilling to even go back to the 60+ pages on this thread where most everything has already been discussed.
