Why would I go to the 737 when I'm a 777 captain? That makes no sense for me.
Life on the B737 has been well documented on here. I don't ague any of the points that the 737 pilots make. I wish it were better for them and it would have been if we'd been smarter as a group and voted down the first LOA. I did but there was not enough of us. Live and learn hopefully.
If someone is a 777 FO with no chance of 777 upgrade, has already checked their "international wide-body box", and they do not want to remain in that position forever, then why not suck it up and take the 737 upgrade? Why? I just don't get it.
Opportunity is available yet FO's in current deadend position are afraid to grab it. Yeah, it might not be as cushy as the Triple but it will lead to future employment opportunity. Why? I just don't get it?
Diesel, you have been around this crazy industry awhile maybe you can explain it to me? I'm not being an arse. I just don't understand the reasons for staying a FO. Pay is almost the same for working your arse off on the 777 or flying below guarantee as a Guppy Captain. So pay is not it. At a legacy with real work rules and a retirement I can understand some of the reasons for delaying upgrade. But at Southern?
And yes....DS takes me out on his boat for bbq and beers as payback for pi$$ing y'all off. Lol. It's a nice boat. You out to check it out....the SS Soapsuds.

The current group of OE guys waited approx four months after hire date to get online. Training pay is low but, hanging around the house collecting garentee isn't so bad.
Best of luck! PM me with any questions you may have.

The May 26 777 new hire class will be starting OE the third week of July. I would expect the June class to be starting OE the end of August.
The 5th B777 will begin operating in August sometime. The current routing is CVG/ICN/HKG/ANC/CVG. With the addition of the May/June new hires we will be staffed for the 5 B777's.
I'm not sure what the current training timeline is for B737 pilots.
