Thousands Standing Around...........I would be scared to death of them actually having weapons.....not exactly the best people to be armed with minimum training....How many accidental discharges would there be, my guess, many.

I wouldn't be against former/retired LEOs from being armed.

You could arm a small percentage, just so you'd have one guy on shift with a piece. There are enough ex-mil, LEO, etc in their ranks that you could do that safely.

But do we even need the expense? What laws would TSA have jurisdiction over? We already have local cops at essentially every airport, and TSA would have to call those folks anyway for many disruptive pax who don't manage to violate a federal law.

Most pax problems occur at the gate or on the airplane, after they liquored up, bumped from their flight, etc.

Then they should ask TSA agents who are interested to sign up and never let those first volunteers near a weapon.

The seeds were planted when they went to the blue shirts, metal badges and started calling each other "Officers".

I refer to them as "Screener" whenever I can. i.e. "Excuse me, Screener. Do you want this tub?"

Sounds like a good way to a free rectal exam.

Does the administrator for TSA has the power under federal law to create LEOs under his discretion? I'm under the impression that he does under federal law...

Well, here's a start on the many reasons why TSA agents SHOULDN'T be armed.
