Nah.
NATO is a defensive alliance. Formed to repel a competing military alliance that hasn’t existed for 30 years (because it lost, and half it’s previous members defected to NATO).
They have not been attacked. We’ve not been attacked.
There is no NATO Casus Belli here.
(Calling the current Russia a 1st world nation is ridiculous. Have you seen their TFR, GDP, GINI coefficient and average lifespan numbers? JFC).
Go beat your war drum somewhere else.

TRUTH!!!
This is all about NATO continuing to exist. Without Russia to play the bad guy there is no reason for NATO or US force projection throughout much of the world. The Pedodollar absolutely depends on having credible enemies to threaten our allies. If Germany and Russia had peace and trade say, THROUGH THE NORDSTREAM PIPELINE, then Germany needs no US help or bases. The whole NATO thing would die and we'd go back to defending Israel to at least somewhat control middle-eastern oil. Maybe we could goad Iran to attack them or something. Right now we have a Euro/Russian war, a Israel/Arab war, and a Taiwan/China war potential and we're going to have to win all three to stay dominant.
PS. Putin actually wanted to join NATO for trade reasons. Trump was on board but the rest of the Wokestern World wouldn't have it because Putin is too based and red pilled. But this is another story.

This is an amazing take. Please elaborate further. Where did you hear this? I’m not trying to be argumentative just genuinely curious.

Has anyone asked Putin's opinion on whether or not a Miata is a sports car? Might help us determine his sanity, or at least judgment.

This is real progress.
I'd say that NATO providing "lethal aid" (arms shipments), real time actionable intelligence, sanctions, SWIFT restrictions, seizing national hard currency reserves, and so on is extremely provocative. This is what the high level state department swamp types get paid to do, and they've way, WAY more info than anyone on this board.
Hope they know what they're doing, because Ukraine is f'd, no matter what happens. It's their lot. Sucks to be a border country between great powers.

Best very, very short summary I've come across is that Russia is schizophrenic: the high brow culture is Western, but the politics and government skews towards Eastern and Asian.
Russia is a great nation and a great power and has been around a long, long time. It's not going anywhere. But it's not going to become a Western style democracy, ever. It's stuck in a 19th century "balance of power" mindset; Wester nations would do well to appreciate that (because nukes and all)
TLDR: Yeah, Russia isn't joining NATO, never wanted to either.
(*)- better note that I'm not endorsing ANYTHING A. Dugin has to say. But he's very influential in Russian politics, his thoughts are alien to the West and not easily put in a box, and very little of his work is translated into English. I don't read Russian, so the one book I have read about his philosophy is second hand.

You know what else isn't reported much? Ukrainian males aren't allowed to leave. Is that a familiar happening? Hmm.. Oh right, the last time there was an exodus from Ukraine was the Holodomor. Stalin didn't let them leave. He took the food out of their homes and gave it to his comrades, and starved the Ukrainians in their beds. New boss, same job. The story is that they're needed for military service but we all know that's a bold faced lie. White males are decidedly not diverse. How can a modern military expect to accomplish anything without women and people of color? Reductio ad absurdum these men are not going to be used for military service. This is Holodomor 2.0. White genocide continues.

Listening to Ward Carroll's youtube channel he had on Admiral James Winnefeld Jr. Its interesting listening to the Admirals disgust for what he sees going in national leadership starting at roughly the 49:30 mark of this episode https://youtu.be/DdC2P6UqEGE. A couple quotes...
"Something has got to happen that causes more accountability for decision making and responsible behavior on the part of our political class"
" ..Or when the electorate gets tired of it and starts voting other people in"
"...we have a system that's pretty broken ...that's held hostage to very few individuals with probably inordinate amount of power who can hold things up."
Just copying and pasting some of the Admiral's credentials;
Commands held
Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
United States Northern Command
North American Aerospace Defense Command
United States Sixth Fleet
Carrier Strike Group Two
I don't have time stamp for it but if you go back to I believe Ward's "How World War III Starts" episode-to keep things open source- he talks about flag officers who admit the current administration's priority is not the military.
As citizens we should understand
- what our military spending is for
- why it's relatively high compared to GDP
- What's the cost unpreparedness
- What's the cost of western nations not investing in defense
- What are the ramifications of our various energy and trade policies outside US borders
- we can all put our thumb on the scale by
- paying attention
-writing our reps
- peacefullly assembling
- using our 1st amendment rights
- holding the media accountable
- and of course with our vote
