I have worked for the same fortune 500 company (have been promoted etc, and done 5 different jobs or so) for 17 years.

Your point seems pretty clear though. Essentially don’t bore the reviewer with non applicable content. So maybe I should just list the different companies I’ve worked for, the dates, job titles, and a one liner description of the role?

Since I’m just about to get my Multi commercial and only have a little over 500 hours, i’m not worried about running out of room!

Another question is, since I will be hard up for aviation related bullet points, do I point out small things like a 15 year member of AOPA and things like that? Any wings credit received over the years, etc? Participation in any online aviation related groups (Vatsim)?

I will be applying to some part 135 operations soon.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
I am a career changer, albeit one with a military aviator background prior to my current job. I did what others have suggested. I put my flight times and qualifications at the top. And then a chronology of my work and education history with very little fluff -- just a few words on job responsibilities for each entry. Even then I had to edit out some stuff to keep it at one page.

On the resume? Or the application?

Normally the resume is your opportunity to present yourself, not a background check application.

If they want a specific resume format they should provide a template.

In your case, you will want to condense the non aviation employment. Try to distill out leadership duties or special responsibilities which show that you're not the average cube dweller.

You don't want to bother them with aviation irrelevant deets, but you want to convey that you accomplished something during your previous career.

Won't matter for regionals, but might for majors.

Resume. A format wasn’t specified except for how far back the job listings should go. That was covered either in the airline specific briefing, Q&A, or general resume briefing.

Default Pilot Career Center resume

Has anyone tried out Pilot Career Center's resume and cover letter service? I am interested on what their final product looks like, if it's any different than the formats mentioned above

Rickair,

Thanks for all the advice and specifically the resume advice. I accepted my first aviation job offer!

From what I can tell, your posts are constructive, relevant and genuine. It’s refreshing. And MUCH appreciated. Thank you!

I hope I can repay the favor someday!!

How about for promotions within a company, aircraft upgrades (pic on more than one type), and add on like security/safety/lead pilot etc?

Some ask for resume, but not sure if I've seen any majors ask for a cover letter specifically. Something I should tack on for them all or does it seem just specific ones?

Thanks!
Getting app and resume reviewed in March but figure getting them as on point as can now would be good also.
