Get the private and evaluate how you feel about taking the plunge to get the rest of the ratings. After the private there's no reason a lot of the training couldn't be done after work, at night. That might help you accelerate the process. I'd recommend visiting flight schools you are interested in and doing an intro flight, they should be anywhere between $100-200.

Scheduled for this Friday weather permitting. And thanks, I will do that. Start small and build the momentum from there.

My wife is a nurse, studying to be a Nurse Practitioner, so that works very well. As far as the other stuff is concerned: clean record, solid GPA in college, blah blah. It would be great to get on with Envoy here locally to minimize commuting, but commuting is part of the gig and I understand that. Obviously that is a ways away, but I would rather be prepared.

I live in the North Dallas area, so if anybody has recommendations for flight training, wants to me to get them breakfast where I could pick their brain in exchange, I would appreciate it. If there are any other tips or good pieces of advice to share with a new guy, I am all ears. Thanks for all the information.
Yeah Envoy is probably your best bet for flow but don't get complacent, build the resume and make the effort to apply off the street. The difference between flow or OTS could be a million bucks or more.

Good that the wife is a nurse, that's almost an ideal career for a pilot spouse, geographically portable and flexible schedule.
