Default Pay scale question

On the payscales, the captain scale starts at year 1. If you become a captain on year 3, do you start at year 1 on the captain pay scale (because it is your 1st year as a captain) or do you start at year 3 because it is your 3rd year with the company?

Its based on time with the company so if you upgrade at your third year, you go to year 3 captain pay.

In the US ONLY!

All or essentially all US airlines pay you based on company longevity (ie hire date) regardless of which seat you happen to be sitting in at the time.

Overseas is usually the opposite, most foreign airlines, you start all over at year one when you upgrade.
