Interesting statistic?

Fact : 70% starts but never finishes flight training.
Even from the ones that finish many fall by the wayside.
Out of all the students I’ve instructed a handful ( that I know off) made it to the airlines.
Even if I triple this number to account for the ones that didn’t bother to let me know where they ended up it’s only 15-20% of the ones that finished their Commercial training.
I got my ATP when I was still instructing.
Im guessing if you go deep down the FAA statistics you’ll find ATP’s with an adress a outside of the US.
I would use a different definition of “made it”.
PIC of an aircraft that requires a type rating is without a doubt a milestone of having “made it”.
Upgrade not PIC as sole manipulator....lol

In all three cases I didn't think the numbers would move the needle all that much. Maybe we see a 10% increase? How may active military pilots are there? I did some googlefu and came up with this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...itary_aircraft Removing UAS from the equation I get a total of 12,268 aircraft. (Scary what you can find on the Internet). Assuming 3 pilots per aircraft I get around 30K? Given your background you probably have access to better data than I so I would be interested to hear if the number is that far off.
I was considering that there are a lot of ex-mil airline pilots with ATPs who were never competing in the civilian ranks. So that would make the odds better for civilians.
