Default United or Wait for Flow?

I live in MSP and I am currently at Endeavor and could flow to Delta in about a year but that timeline can change drastically. I got an offer from United but I would have to commute. Would it be best to wait for flow or take the job offer from United and not look back even if I’d have to commute?

Why is everyone so afraid to commute. It’s really not that hard. Yes it might cost you an extra night from home once a month but prob not from Minnie to any of United’s bases. Go to United.

I would take UAL too.

Unless you are 100% not able, ever, to leave MSP. In that case I'd wait for DL.

Personally I would not want to be obligated to a lifetime commute, I'd like to at least have the option of moving to base if I ever needed to.

False dichotomy

1) You take the United class. [When the big 6 offer you a class date ... you take it]
2) You then apply to wherever else appeals to you. If Delta offers you a class, decide then.

Normally, I'd say yes. At this exact moment in time, with guaranteed flow at some point, I'd be picky about geography. That's me, I can't relocate the fam, and after many years of a variety of commutes I want the option to drive to work. If you don't care where you live, then take the first job, first upgrade, etc.

I'm not a huge fan of NY, but if it wasn't for family I'd go there in a heartbeat just for the career progression. Live somewhere within a 2 hour train ride.

There is of course hypothetical risk that it could all come to a screeching halt, but if you're a UA new hire at point you're either furloughed or commuting to reserve for a good while anyway. Choose your own flavor of risk.
