Post Green card holder and big5

Hi, some guy told me that it would be difficult to go to big 5 after going to subsidiary like Envoy, Piedmont if I’m not a citizen but green card holder. Is it true?

Never heard of this kind of thing before. Is there a disadvantage for being a green card holder?

I don’t know about other big 4 but it’s totally okay for UA.

As long as you have a right to work in the USA you can. If you don’t you can’t flow, or get hired by any company that doesn’t sponsor right to work. This is how the AA Wholly Owned and other regionals trap foreigners. They don’t disclose that super important detail that while they sponsor workers, their associated legacy partners don’t.

If you have a green card you will be just fine. In fact I suspect they tend to be more likely to hire green card holders because they're afraid they'll get sued if the don't.

But do regionals sponsor VISA to foreign pilots? I’ve never heard of it besides Australian pilots.

Outside of the E-3 (Australian) visa, it's very difficult (historically) to get the immigration authorities to sign off on giving foreign pilots a work-based visa. From an ALPA comm I read recently, there may be some chinks in the armor now but that's the way it has been for years. Foreign pilots working in the US are almost exclusively coming in on family-based visas.

No. Flight schools have done so in the past (they might be doing it now for all I know) but not the airlines. We had Canadian CFI's with 5,000 hours because they hadn't managed to get a green card yet.

The Australian E-3 thing is a special case since it's basically automatically pre-approved due to bilateral treaty.
