Being a Gay Pilot
As a gay male pilot I have found it very difficult to find a job these days. I am starting to feel as if my would be employers are using my sexuality as a another way to weed out potential pilots. I am becoming very discouraged, and I don't know how to deal with my current feelings.
I was wondering if anyone else had any insight.

That's ridiculous.
There are gay pilots at both airlines I've worked at, nobody gives a hoot. There were several at the flight schools I worked at too. The passengers couldn't tell, but it was no secret from co-workers.
How would they even know at an interview? You wear a suit, right? A dark one, with a white shirt, and red tie? Any pilot who deviates far from that is probably not getting hired regardless.
People who interviewed me never knew that I prefer female brunettes with nice butts...if I somehow communicated that, I would not be getting hired either.

How do you know that any employer is really using this fact against you - especially in these tough job hunting times?
Are you maybe looking for a excuse to hang your misfortune on?
What are your qualifications and what kind of jobs have you been interviewing for?

I have several good college friends at places like Delta and Jet Blue that are all gay, no one ever asked them.
Suspect there is more to the story.

I know of one guy that has been hired(no confirmation though since he says he's in a pool...) and he is gay. Best advice I can give you is don't apply in the Middle East. Good luck.

It's more likely that you're not getting the job because of a chip on your shoulder instead of who you share your bed with. No one cares if you're gay if you can fly.

Flustered? Not hardly. I just think he'd get better advice for his particular situation at that site from people who have walked a mile in his shoes.
