Question Current ATP written

I took my ATP written a few years ago with the hopes of upgrading that year, it was wishful thinking unfortunately. Now my ATP written is expired under Part 61 but I am still presently employed by the same Part 121 airline so I believe it is still current for a Part 121 checkride.

Now I am in the situation where I may have an opportunity at another Part 121 carrier that would provide a Type Tating/ATP checkride. If I leave my current 121 carrier and go to training at another 121 carrier will my expired ATP written still be valid for a checkride at the new carrier?

If not I better dust off the old Gleim book.

FAR 61.39 used to say "continuously employed." It no longer does and the latest interpretation from the Office of the Chief Counsel simply says

"employed as a flight crewmember by a certificate holder under part 121, 125,
or 135 ... at the time of the practical test..."

Did the new job have anything about current writtens in their app?

It is still valid in 121, etc. Just not if you go do it out in town 91.

Definitely print it out, but it is true.

I took my ATP written in 1998, got my first 121 job in 2000. Got furloughed in 2005, a month later I was in class at job number 2. Upgraded in 2007, and the original ATP test was good.

And I wasn't the only one.

You're good, unless you decide to get your ATP outside of the 121 job. If you do it as a 91'er, you'll need to be current on the written.
