Speeding when 17, little help please

Agree with it being a pattern issue that raises the flags - BUT - if you were arrested and spent the night in jail then it was probably more serious than JUST speeding; meaning they wouldn't just arrest you for speeding - but reckless driving is a different matter and it is more serious than JUST speeding.
FWIW - I remember a cop telling a friend of mine that got stopped for speeding once in Suffolk, VA that he was going to write the ticket for 19 mph over the speed limit because if he wrote it for 20+ mph over the speed limit then he would have to arrest him and impound the car.
True or not? Who knows - but he didn't speed anymore on that highway heading to work so it had the desired effect!

Reckless driving will be reported to the NDR which comes back as a pointer, this pointer doesnt say what the infraction is, but only in what state the infraction happened. It is then up to the empoyer to contact the state to find out what the infraction was (dui, dwi, reckless driving, hit and run). You can request your ndr record for free through snail mail.

I truly wish you the best luck!

How old are you now? And have you had any tickets since? If it was 5+ years ago and you don't have any infractions since, most likely it will have a small influence over if you get hired. Just as others have said disclose it, comment about how you've learned the error of your ways and you should be fine.

Seriously just be honest I have 2 and it never hurt me in an interview

Normally unless you are a habitual speeder it is not a problem in an interview. Just be honest about them. I asked a few of my interviewees about the tickets they put on their applications. Best answer I've ever gotten was, "Sir, back when I got those I was young and immature. Now that I am a pilot I have a whole new respect for operating machinery safely." Was it probably a BS answer. Who knows but the kids was one of the hardest and best workers I had.

I had 16 tickets on my record when I started applying to the airlines..many of them were before I turned 18 when I was young and thought every darn light was a drag race light tree. Some were after that for dumb stuff like HOV lane violation or illegal turns. Any how I was sent home from interviews before I even got into the interview room because of my record. It was very stressful, since that experience, I drive like a freaking turtle. I have no rush to get anywhere. If you do make it to the interview room and they ask you about it. Be honest, own up to your mistakes. My last ticked before i got hired was two years prior. I guess they figured i had matured enough since i finally got a job offer. Since that day, i decided I am not going to risk my potential dream job over a darn ticket. It's been 6 years now ticket free...now come on UPS start hiring! Lol

Also anther question with these. On the last ticket I was put in jail for the night, wasn't drinking or anything but I was going 24 over. I was fingerprinted but nothing came about just paid a fine the next morning. This is the ticket that said would go away when i was 18. The question is, is would the record go away for going to jail as well (was told it would) is there any way to find out? Application jsut asks for any misdemeanor or felony(which wasn't the case with me), but i know they do a fingerprint check so i didn't know what to do.
