Default Speeding when 17, little help please

when i was 17 and i just started driving I got a couple tickets and i thought they got dismissed or maybe one stayed on the record. But my question is, is that even if they stayed on my record would they still be there? I thought I was told that they would be gone after I turned 18. I'm 24 now and about to go for an interview so i didn't know what to do. THanks

Easiest thing to do - pull your driving record. I've talked to people who "had it cleared", "did defensive driving", "would have it off my record after X months" and it's still been there. I've also seen people who got tickets, just paid them (no defensive driving, etc), and they weren't on their record.

Short story - it's a crap shoot, and the only way to know for sure is to pull your driving record and see what the recruiters/interviewers at your potential place would see.

I did that for another interview and it only showed the recent ones, but when the state mailed one in to me a few weeks later it showed that they were on there. What would the airline see? The one the courthouse gave to me or the one the state sent in later?

Also anther question with these. On the last ticket I was put in jail for the night, wasn't drinking or anything but I was going 24 over. I was fingerprinted but nothing came about just paid a fine the next morning. This is the ticket that said would go away when i was 18. The question is, is would the record go away for going to jail as well (was told it would) is there any way to find out? Application jsut asks for any misdemeanor or felony(which wasn't the case with me), but i know they do a fingerprint check so i didn't know what to do.

If you're not sure if it will show up on your record, better report it to the airlines.

A couple (= 2) tickets under age 18 will not be a problem as long as there was no alcohol involvement or reckless.

If "a couple" = 6 or 7, then you have a problem, unless they really are sealed.

The airlines get their info from the FBI national database. Generally, minor tickets do not get reported to the national database, although more serious traffic offenses probably do.

An arrest however makes me think the offense might have been serious enough to make it to the FBI database. The general consensus is that those records DO NOT get purged or expunged.

Generally it is best to be honest with airlines, in addition to the FBI database, some of them can and will do their own search of local court records. Even if somebody told you something was removed, they could have been wrong, or mistakes happen.

It is better to not get hired, than to get hired and then get fired a few weeks later when they get the results from your background check. Fired from 121 airline for lying on application = never getting hired at another airline again.

the offense in and of itself may not be serious; its the "behavior pattern" which may raise red flags.

one violation for minor in possession (drinking beer) when you were 17 is no big deal, but 10 of them, even if all dismissed, are.

its more than just "the violation"

a buddy of mine lost his chances at an AF pilot slot because he had a sh1t load of tickets in college. AF just said "no, we will pass on this guy"

just FYI thats all

ya, i understand thats why i am worrying about this, i meant that the one violation was over nothing but speeding. But ya i understand about the pattern. I'm just hoping that since I just received my license that it will look better, in that I have changed that pattern since then.
