300hr is quite low time. Congratulations on getting that much multi time. The important question is what kind of multi time do you have? Have you been flying King Air's or light twins? How much instrument time do you have? Are you proficient with instrument procedure?

King airs i wish plus i think i would have killed my self by now, I flew light twins the B60 Duke. I also flew every approach known to man other than RNAV.. i even got a chance to shoot a PAR approach into Miami one morning it was about 3am light traffic. i also have about 17 hrs of actual.. in the clouds **** outside weather. Yes i only logged the time i was actually in the soup

Apply everywhere you want. Anyone who uses AirlineApps won't get your app (it's all automatically filtered), so your only real option would be the places that use an in-house system (which may or may not filter automatically), or email/fax/call them directly.


There are jobs out there. You have multi time, so either get your CFI and instruct or look for a gig flying skydivers, etc. They're out there if you look.

You can try, but I would guess without a internal rec from the CEO at 300TT you should focus on building time. Go get your CFI.

Sounds like you are masking your Quality time in search of that short cut to the airlines. If you are truly interested in Quality time you will get a CFI job then work 135. It will make you a better Captain and F/O. It will also give you the experience needed to know when to fly and when to wave a white flag.
You can buy flight time but you can't buy experience and integrity. Earn it and then you can come here in 5 years and slam those that just want to buy a job.

Don't listen to these fools telling
You to wait. Seniority is everything and
It may take time for you to actually end up on property. So by then maybe Lu have a bit more time.

Everyone"s mins are going down. Sure your low time, but that shouldn"t stop from doing what you want.

In my opinion apply.

The 17 hours of actual is good, but you should be aware that you are still very inexperienced. I don't mean to sound condescending, but at 300hr, I didn't know my head from my ass. The multi time in light twins really won't help you through the training either. Personally, I think 25 hours in a King Air (or similar) is better than 250hr in a Seneca.

That being said, there are some very talented folks out there who can make it through training with 300hrs. If you're one of them, building another 1200hrs before applying would just delay your progression. There's really no way for me to know if you're one of them. Just be aware that the airplanes that airlines fly have a whole lot more speed and complexity than anything you've flown so far.

I agree that you should build some time, but I disagree with the folks who say "go be a CFI to build your time". If that's the only reason you're doing it, you're gonna hate your life, and your students probably won't enjoy flying with you. Instructing is very rewarding, but it isn't for everybody, and it certainly isn't for time building.

I'd apply. I'd always apply to any job I wanted to get where I met the minimums. Make them say no.

BTW, for a quick trivia question: The pilot hired at CAL with the least amount of flight time had 240 hours.

I think although my flight time is rather low i have good quality time. I did my instrument in a ME aircraft and i have flown multies ever since i got my private. I have flown Coast to Coast and have great stories to tell interviewers good ones and horror stories. I feel confident in my flying abilites but know full hand i have ALOT! more to learn. I do not have a CFI and they buddies twin i was flying is no longer avail so now im stuck i cannot find a part 91 gig..
Try to find a job quick because the shelf life of a 300 hour pilot with no current time is about 90 days.
