Resume ??
I retired from the Navy as a semi-senior officer and am wondering if I should down play that on my resume. Do you guys think people will see that and not think I am a good fit for an "entry level" job? I applied to Avenge and also Dynamic for an A&P position and got the "thanks but no thanks" E-mail. I am wondering if they looked at my resume and thought I might be overqualified or worse that I might not want to do the work and would need to be in charge and would cause problems. The opposite is actually true at this point and I am just looking to come to work, do my job and go home. I don't need to be in charge of anything if that is what the job is.
So should I re-write my resume?

It would not be a problem for a pilot, but I could see that as being considered over-qualified for an A&P.
Might not hurt to play it down, take out ALL of the navy jargon and your actual rank and re-write it to look exactly like a civilian resume. You'll still say you were in the navy of course, but focus on your technical skills. Mention somewhere that you have held "supervisory positions".
I would be hesitant to hire an O-4 for a technician job, and very hesitant to hire an O-5. I would have to get a clear feel at the interview that you were looking forward to a big change in your professional life...not just doing it because you can't get a desk job. Say that you enjoyed your supervisory role in the past, but that you are really looking forward to getting your hands dirty again, and might accept supervisory duties again down the road. But for now you just want to tun wrenches again. Something like that...
