Default What can I do?!

Hey guys, been looking around and it seems like I've found myself in a rut. I am 19 years old, with my Commercial AMEL and ASEL, along with MEI, CFII, CFI. I have about 450TT and 150ME. I have been trying to find somewhere that I can work and start to get some Turbine time, even if it is SIC for the time being. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions where I could apply. I would like to get into an airline before the ATP law goes into effect, but it seems like everywhere has a minimum age of 21.. (I turn 21 5 days before the law goes into effect). I dont know what to do, and decided to look to all of you for some guidance!!

Thanks!

Don't worry bout the turbine time. Go put all those instructor tickets to use.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the atp requires you to be 23. If youre not that age by August 1, 2013 you wont get a call from an airline as of right now. The law will probably be altered before its effective date, but that doesnt help you today. Try a part 135 gig.

I have my bachelors degree already as well, I busted a$$ to get through all of my schooling and to finish my training quickly so that I could pursue my career. I was told by my senator that anyone hired prior to the bill would be grandfathered in, I'm starting to wonder if I was given false information. Does anyone know any part 135 carriers that would hire with what I have now?

Just keep flying. You have 46 years till retirement. It will all work out.

What he said. You won't get hired anywhere worthwhile without it.

edit- disregard.. good on you for pushing through like that!

Your total time is a bit low right now (in 2003 it took me 1700 TT and 350 multi engine before I got called by Pinnacle). Keep building time and sniffing around various places. Having your degree already really frees you up to go to a variety of places. The regionals are in a bit of a mess right now with the mergers.

The regionals don't care too much about turbine time. It's multi-engine time and total time that gets you hired by a regional (exposure to some turbine helps, though).

If I was 19 again... I'd get that bachelors degree and when I wasn't instructing or flying boxes get myself a convertible to bird dog chicks and bang beaver. Live it up for as long as you can.

What everyone else said. Right now you need total time. Just go out and get it. You will get 1500 in no time. I would stop stressing about getting into that one earlier class at an airline that hasn't even interviewed you several years form now yet anyway.

Your senator might be mistaken. I was told by our manager of flight standards that there is no grandfathering in. Must be eligible to hold an atp (age & time) by 8/1/13
