Default King Air time question

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any idea where one might go find some king air time? Most operators already want you to have time in one which I don't. I have a little over 700 hours in turbo-prop as SIC for a regional. Been trying to get on with military contractors but the hang up has been the king air time..most want about 300 hours PIC. Thanks for the help.

I am in the same boat...I am a 121 SIC right now, and I have been looking all over the country to find that KA time....I have exhausted every contact I know. I look on job boards and can't find anything but people who want pilots with previous KA time...makes me wonder what is so hard about flying this thing! I have tried everything I can think of except for buying one to fly around in! Maybe you can PM me and we can try to help each other and bounce ideas off each other. I have a buddy that works for one of the gov't contract companies and he says he can only help me when I get the KA time.

The reason operators want King Air time is simple....they built a gazillion of them and a gazillion guys and gals have KA PIC time.

I'm in the same boat...I had my clearance and was in the AF....No KA time, but I fly the EMB 170...so I hope we can find one of those gazillion KA's out there, and someone who's willing to give us a shot at flying one!

SIC time in an ERJ probably isn't what KA operators are looking for. Maybe some single pilot IFR time would help?

Mayo Aviation operates the 200 and does not require previous KA time.

I've talked with furloughed mainline guys flying the 200 for mayo, they had nothing but good things to say about the company and the flying...

You might try asking a contact at those contractors to walk your resume to chief pilot. Good luck.

I've done that. They won't budge on the KA requirement. Even with someone waking the resume. We will continue to look for ways into that KA cabin.
