Default Lost "flight time"

Long story short, I misplaced my master logbook a few years back. I hadn't flown in a couple of years and I had moved a few times. It was just lost in all boxes for a while. I started flying some again (all helicopter) mostly for fun since I could afford it back then and the a/c was family owned. I have about 100 hours of helicopter time that is missing from my master logbook and since then I have been flying fixed-wing so I have several pages of entries after that time frame. I have the time recorded in a small pocket log. Should I just keep my master log the way it is and carry the pocket log with me to interviews while listing the time on the app? Or should I do a one line entry with the time into the master to make the times match? I do not want it to look sketchy but do not want to lose the time either since I am pretty low time considering I have been flying almost 10 years.

I guess I am fairly confused.....is the master log LOST or NOT? if NOT, rerecord the NEW hours in the master log and be done with it.... if the master log is LOST and you are asking what to do that is a bit more difficult.

In that case you need to amass as much documentation as you can, training records, check ride forms, etc.... to account for the time from your master log. I lost my master log in a natural disaster and on the advice of MY ( not saying yours would say the same thing) FSDO, I started a new logbook, entered each aircraft flown with a conservative estimate of hours. Then placed a notarized statement in my log book attesting to the authenticity of the entries, and carried those totals forward to the next page and from there I just enter my flights as normal. A couple more things, I do have my USAF flight records ( not AFORMS ) but my Form 8 file to prove at least that I was a USAF Pilot... and within the last year I have moved ALL my data to an electronic logbook. Good luck.

Sorry for the confusion. The master log was misplaced for a period around 2008-2009. I did a little over 100hrs of flying then but didn't have the logbook so I put it in a pocket log. I found the master log soon after but was not flying at the time so entering the hours from the pocket log just wasn't on my mind. I started back flying fixed-wing last year and simply forgot about the time in the pocket log. If that makes sense.

i would enter the 100 hours in the master log even if they are out of date sequence. Just put a note to that effect in your log book

Thanks for the advice HercDriver. That was my thoughts of how to add it in. Do you think I would be wise to carry the pocket log with me to interviews or would really make no difference since its a small amount of helicopter time?

I would log as we said, and keep the pocket log, but no need to carry it along unless you just want to

I would also think that the closer to any hiring minimums you are the more likely that it might be a factor, but if you exceed the mins by a good amount then it probably wouldn't even be mentioned. In the end - is it that 100 hours that would make the difference in you getting the job or not?

At this time and for a while to come it probably won't be a factor in getting a IFR 135 job or 121 job because I will need a few hundred more hours before I meet the mins for either. I would not consider putting it in there at all if by putting it in my master log put me over the mins for a job I was applying for in the near future. IMO that would look shady if I added 100 or so hours then applied for a job that I barely met the mins next week.
