Regional Pilot Recruiters
#41
I'll be happy when I have a seniority number at a regional and am earning a paycheck (which is meager, mind you) at 22 years old.
Quite frankly, I think it builds more character to even be eligible to become a new hire regional pilot by the end of college.
I recognize and accept that people here have different opinions on flight training. It is NOT, however, going to Mom 'n Pop's Flight School of Fun rather than ERAU, and becoming a regional pilot at age 24 rather than 22, going through "character building exercises" along the way.

If anything is going to create a pilot shortage it will be due to the fact that it is not worth the long time horizon it takes to get there anymore.
I understand why young people want to go straight to a regional. The prospect of wasting half a decade on instructing is not worth it at all. Then add 7 years in the right seat and forget about it. YUK All for less than mailman wages.

Those are the points that Skyhigh will most likely key upon if he choses to respond to your post. If anyone wants to read the original post, it is still available. What is your problem with quoting and editing my response?
You said that you were open to hearing the other side of the story.....well here he is!

Remember saying that you would appreciate hearing from others (though we were speaking of ERAU grads at the time) with a different point of view?
"Sure, if you are willing to do that, that would be great!" [post #34]
I have provided you with a lead-in to exactly that - though Sky isn't a ERAU grad, he'll have many other points to discuss with you should you and he choose to engage in the discussion.
Yes - you may not be up-to-date with the "drama" of the forums when it comes to Sky, but you are reportedly his self-proclaimed 'target' audience so some of hte regular forum members will be watching with interest.

If "Sky" would like to discuss what I wrote, I'd be more than happy, as always, to have a civilized discussion. I would encourage him to read my original post, however.
It's almost childish how some folks here become angry and defensive when I don't agree with them. To this end, please understand that this anonymous online forum is not the deciding factor for my education and career choices. That's what parents, friends, family, and individual people who I know face-to-face are for.

Your "lead in" is misleading because you pieced together sentences that were out of context. (Are you a Fox News fan?)

You must be feeling very defensive to accuse such a thing. No reason to feel defensive.
I did what you asked me to do.
I'm glad that you aren't making final decisions based on APC forums. That is a very smart thing, but make sure that the information you are giving those people who are guiding is complete and accurate - especially if it is partly their money you will be spending

Skylover,
2 questions for ya:
Are you already committed/enrolled to ERAU for the upcoming semester?
and
Have you looked at any other ERAU threads on this board as USMCFLYR suggested?
Specifically the "Embry Riddle - to go or not to go" thread.
The reason I ask is that you don't really seem open to receiving feedback from anyone who disagrees with your point of view. If you've already made a decision to attend this would explain a lot.
Also the thread I mentioned has lots of ERAU grads who shed some light on the long term implications of their decision. Its pretty eye opening.

No - it is common practice to not quote EVERYTHING in a post.
