OK good luck with that. Reach out to aa73 and talk to him about SIC time at AA and no PIC time and applying to jobs/other airlines.

A jet is a jet, who cares how big it is or how far it flys. PIC time is not SIC time. Always take the upgrade. I'd hire a B1900 CA pilot before any jet FO. A widebody FO is the worst pilot out there. I was so lazy and stupid on the 777. At least a Saab captain is flying a plane.

I am comparing Captain Saab time to Medium to heavy jet time. So an F/O at Emirates on the A380 who has international experience will not be looked at better than a REGIONAL Captain on a SAAB flying from LGA to Syracuse??

So the pilot at Emirates who needed 3000 hours to get hired, has close to 3-4 type ratings with international experience will get the boot while a B1900 CA will get hired .. I just don't buy it.

Well I think it depends on where you wish to go after your regional job.. If its a company that prefers weight and complexity of aircraft (Emirates) and could care less about PIC/SIC then sure go with the 170 sic, on the other hand if you wish to go to Fedex, Southwest, and some of the others that require PIC then upgrade on the SAAB.

Some overseas airlines will place a premium on, or have a requirement for "large aircraft" time, or time in a specific type, or turbojet time. In the US, turbine PIC acquired in the military or 121 is going to trump any sort of SIC time. TPIC acquired in small 91/135 operations may not be regarded as highly at most airlines, although SWA will notably welcome almost any sort of TPIC. But ASEL TPIC is really only useful if acquired in a military aircraft. That's the facts, and it's not really a secret. |
Left seat in the tprop or tjet always unless quality of life is more important and the right seat lifestyle satisfies.

I am sure we will still have questions on this issue......
