Good friend got a call the week after the conference. He only had his app in for 1 week before the conference. His interview is this month. I hope I have as much luck with CAL.

Texandrvr, do you know what his quals were, and if he had a "sponsor" already lined up in such a short time?

Military. Probably 2,000-2,500 hours all turbine multi and probably half of that is PIC. No sponsor that I know of. I don't have that much time but I do have the sponsor. Anyway, as far as time goes, it sounds like they just want the minimums. If you have that then they start looking to see if you have the type of background that they want.

CAL has filled Dec class dates and is coasting for a week or two. Calls will start back up after Xmas for Jan interviews. Be patient!

My buddy just started there yesterday. They told them that they are going to continue to hire at the current rates until May. During the summer it will go down to a max of 8 pilots a month. Next fall tooks robust again. His entire class is 737. 2 CLE, 8 IAH and 10 EWR. The 757 sims are backed up. Even though they need pilots in it yesterday, they are going to wait until they have gotten through the back log to send new hires to the a/c. They are looking at growing the 737 base in EWR to 500 pilots a seat by midyear. The next system bid will early next year will given them a better idea what is needed.
