Default Hiring requirements

I was looking at the requirements to get hired by Delta and had a few questions.

1. Passport required
Currently have no passport -- I have a good reason, really . That said, do I need my passport before I apply, before I'm interviewed, or before I (hypothetically) begin work.

2. Radio Operators Permit required
Is this something I get through the company once I'm hired?

3. 1st class medical
I can't start work until March '14 so I'd rather not waste the money on it until I need it. Currently I've got the mil equiv. 3rd class medical. Do I need the 1st class medical for the application, the interview, or to begin the job?

There are some other requirements that I assumed the company would do once they hire somebody which I didn't list. Any words on these 3?

They're requirements listed and they each have a box on the application to fill, I would assume with out each minimum requirement met your app won't see the light of day. The FCC licence you can just get online. I think it was $25.

As far as number 3, you're really trying to save $100 while trying to land a multi-million dollar job?

Considering I'm paying for ECC, 737 sim time, and travel to job fairs I'd say you're way off base. That said, I certainly don't want to waste $100 if it is not a requirement, hence why I asked.

1. Just get it.
2. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ha...rs-permit.html
3. See 1. If you are under 40 it is good for a year. Check with locals who they use.

Now is always better than later.

TY for the link, that should be easy enough. Sadly 40 is well in the rear-view, every 6 months it is.

For the class 1 you are betting that the AME can issue you the certificate during the exam. If you have a condition that requires a deferral it could take weeks and that's after you get the appropriate paperwork. Get all the stuff done on this list yesterday.

If you don't have those items then you won't get an interview with Delta.

Those three items are generally required to interview at any airline, and will most certainly be required before you get a class date.

Even if you don't need one for your current job, a current 1C medical is always required to apply. That means you can't let it lapse to 2C, so you'll need to renew it every six months until you get hired...then you can let it lapse to 2C privileges and renew it annually (until you upgrade).

1. Just need a picture to mail and passport will be done.
2. Done... what a load of poop
3. Scheduled. Hooray for >40 EKG! BTW, it's $135 not $100

Another question -- certified transcripts. I can order them but do I need to send them to myself and then bring them to interviews or do I wait until asked by the company and send directly to them?

Order official transcripst now, from every school you've ever attended, and have them sent directly to you. Then you'll have them so you can bring the originals and a copy to your interview if requested.
