Driving record vs really what happened
#11
For anyone that knows. I've had an Illinois driver's license forever and have been stationed outside of Illinois for the last 11 years in the military. I put down every speeding ticket that I could think of in my application (and even thought of one later that I forgot about and one seatbelt "infraction" that I'm not sure that I received a ticket for).
I received my Illinois driving record a few months ago and it had no infractions on it whatsoever. My application still has the four speeding tickets that I know I received, but I'm afraid that I may have forgotten something.
I'm sure that my 10-year driving history is accurate and I think my entire history is accurate, but not 100% sure. Is there some other way to make sure I listed everything accurately? Apparently, the National Registry only lists bigger items than speeding tickets. I don't want to appear as dishonest if something shows up during a background check.

That is kind of what I gathered. I can't pay for a super screener life history report and I am not going to list a ticket because there MAY be one from 10 years ago that I can't remember.

Pilots are tempted to conveniently forget things from their past mostly because they fear the HR software will dump their application before they get a fair shake. That may be true, hard to say but it would certainly not be in their best interest in many cases. But the final say on a new hire goes to the chief pilot, who is in that position presumably because they are good at deciding. If the C-P sees a bunch of nuisance tickets on an app, they will know the local police writes them to raise funds for the city. But it is much harder to go the other way- if you deliberately hide some dirt because you think it will cost you a job and a background check subsequently finds it, you are most likely going to lose the job. It is better to go in with all cards on the table and see what the C-P can do for you, than to deprive him (her) of the info he needs to help you.

I respectfully disagree with the two of you. Get a certified (you can do this on each states bmv website) driving record from each state you've held a license. Also search the national drivers registry. Whatever comes back on those put down. Keep all copies.
Wouldn't it suck if you put all of it down and you didn't get the nod from the interviewer only for most of those not even to have been on your record? They don't do the background checks /driving record checks at the interview stage.

If I only had a dime for every time I heard the story about the people who were sent home from class due to nondisclosures.

Maybe a little off-topic, but I didn't see this anywhere in the archive... TX has many different options for drivers records,
Type 1 (Status Record):Name, date of birth (DOB), license status, and current address.
Type 2 (3-year Driving History):Name, DOB, license status, list of accidents and violations in record within past 3-year period
Type 2A (Certified 3-year Driving History):Certified version of Type 2. (Not acceptable for Defensive Driving Course.)
Type 3 (Complete Driving History):Name, DOB, license status, list of all accidents and violations in record.
Type 3A (Certified Complete Driving History):Certified version of Type 3. (Acceptable for Defensive Driving Course.)
Type AR (Abstract Driver Record): Certified abstract of complete Driving Record
Any idea which one to do (I am struggling between Type 3A and AR) Also, I've had a TX license since coming in the USAF 20 yers ago, but have never received a ticket in TX (one while driving through NM on the way to AC upgrade in 2003 and one in AZ in 2001)
I know there are both outside the ten year limit (if there is one) but I'm uncertain if they will show up on the TX extract.
Any thoughts?
