Another fad to avoid is the tight/short look. You've seen them: the jacket looks like it's 3" too small in the chest, the sleeves stop well above the wrist, and the pants show about 2" of sock. This look is fine if you're trolling Boys Town or working for one of the NY fashion mags, but is wildly inappropriate for an interview.

I was actually going to mention that. Here's another one. Guys and girls I know ink is in BUT if you've got some make sure it's covered and that you can't see it through your clothes. Just a friendly FYI in case you were wondering.

Don't forget to take your slacks off when your are waiting for the actual interview. You don't want to get creases in them while you sit and wait.

Too funny. That episode was on tonight. Hilarious. For SKW, I wore a charcoal suit, light pinstripes, very shallow shade of pink shirt and a plaid tie (pink and grey). I got the job. Don't let the suit make the man, but let the man make the suit! Wear it proud and wear it strong. And above all, be confident but not an a**hole. You will do great.

Yes. The majority of folks have worn dark navy (oft mistaken as black) at the 3 group interviews I've done.

Charcoal is also a good color.

Black is fine but can look a bit too "trendy" for my tastes, YMMV. I don't sit on the other side of the desk though.

I was referring to shoe color.

Dark navy suit, white shirt, red tie worked for me. Go conservative. Banana Republic has nice suits that are moderately priced.

Make sure to wear tuxedo boxers to keep it ultra formal. It will be your secret during the interview, and you'll know that you are more well dressed than the rest of applicants.

I recommend the "free & unfettered" approach
