Anyone know what they are looking for on airlineapps when thye need an unemployment reference??
"Unemployment References:
Account for all periods with employment gaps of twelve (12) months or greater."
where you add someone is then just a standard questionnaire, name address phone number relationship type dates you have known this person..
i mean is the question to ask someone if they know that you have been unemployed?? makes no sense to me

Just put someone down who you know and knows you well enough to stick to your story. I was unemployed for a bit and found it really annoying/stupid that a company wanted to know what I was doing. Uuuuh...w-t-eff do you think I was doing?...hustling, finding ways to keep paying bills and job searching. It's getting ridiculous, soon they'll ask us to fingerprint everything with our own blood as ink lol
Screw airlineApps! Freakin charge me to apply...

As for charging you to apply to Airline Apps, yes they should charge. It's a business, not a charity. And they only charge if you want to apply to more than one carrier. There was a time when we had to apply to each individual carrier, at $50 per.
Nobody is twisting your arms. If you don't like the hoops you need to jump through, find another career.

Actually AirlineApps is a free service to use. You can apply to each carrier individually for free. Legally you cannot be charged to apply at a company. Where AirlineApps makes money is the transfer of your information from one app to another. They know pilots are lazy and will pay the fee instead of filling out another application.
If AirlineApps ever loses Delta or United as a client they will be out of business.

Try to use an unemployment reference that has some prominence or standing in the community, if possible. A pastor/minister/rabbi that you know would be good. A physician, lawyer or other professional would also work. A fellow aviation professional that has been at their current position for a while (preferably a management position) would also fit the bill. The airlines want to verify that you weren't out gang banging with the Crips or training with ISIS in Syria while you were out of work.
Someone vouching for you that would not want to risk their reputation in their profession or community by lying on your behalf has the most clout with the HR departments.

You guys need to calm down and look at this from the airlines' point of view. They want to know that you weren't just sitting around collecting unemployment, even though it may pay more than new-hire regional pay. This is a valid question in an industry where a clean background is mandatory.

Lol well that's the problem with the Internet and why I rarely post anything, but rather just observe; it's easy to think someone is flipping out... I was calm, I was just messing around since I remembered how it was when I applied anywhere or felt like you have to be a superstar to get a job and so on...
Yes I agree if you don't like the rules, don't play their game...and I'm still here, working my way up and making personal checklists, gathering records, making my life easier for the next time around. I don't whine and moan about things I can't change but I think it's okay to joke about them.
Peace!

Sorry for the necropost...
On the Unemployment References page where you put in dates, are these the dates you have known the person or the dates you were unemployed? Theres already a separate page under Employment where you list dates you were unemployed.
