Or better yet the job fairs should ONLY be for pilots with less than 4000TT and no PIC. The rest of us that have that and have been Chief Pilots, Check Airman, Safety Officers etc shouldn't have to. No offense and I've been there but they're the ones that have to prove "how bad" they want it. Not somebody with a little gray hair and battle scars in this biz that has proven themselves over and over again by sticking to this business.

TMAAT that HR gets the heck out of the pilot hiring biz.

I see your point and hat's off to ya for being magnanimous towards the younger folks, but if you don't have 1000hrs of Turbine PIC time in your logbook, you are wasting everyone's time standing inline to talk to a recruiter from a major airline. And you are probably denying someone standing behind you, that is qualified, a chance to do so.

Either the recruiters or the event organizers should indicate the bare minimum qualifications for folks to be able to talk to recruiters/buy a fast pass.

United has regularly hired individuals without 1000tpic. As have JB and VX.

Completely disagree with this, respectfully of course. I'm one of those guys that was in line without TPIC time. I'll agree with you in smallest bit that yea, there are some guys who just have no business being there (wet ink ATPs that just got hired by a regional) But what if we have excellent recommendations? UAL Chief pilot letters of rec? Other extra-circulars? Lots of humanitarian experience? Heavy time? 737/320 types? Degrees? If anything, standing in line at these things without TPIC time is probably the ONLY way to get hired. We all know United works on points, and PIC time isn't the only way to get them. Repetitively going to career fairs is one of them... I registered back in November and rightfully got my fastpass...I'm not trying to be a d!ck, but your post just comes off as arrogant...But I may be wrong, so to anyone who's time I may have "wasted" on Monday, my apologies.

Didn't mean for this come off that way - at all. After going back and re-reading my earlier post, can see how it would be received in that manner. Just having been to job fairs/conventions to talk to recruiters and having to stand in line with folks that were not even close to being qualified just so they could get some "face time" is hard to let slip without saying anything. I really do think that recruiters should put a sign out saying what the mins are to be considered for employment. I was trying to dovetail off of Learflyers earlier comment...

No worries. Perhaps I was a bit quick to jump. I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately just the name of the game though. It's a shame that you're really not even paying for a ticket to the event, you're paying for extra points on your resume.

Hotel....$150.00
Registration & Fees.....$75.00
Standing in line all day long and never even getting to talk to the recruiter at your favorite major airline.....Priceless

Disclaimer: I didn't go to NGPA nor am I a regional airline pilot, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Delta too. There were quite a few in my class without any TPIC. I only had a few hundred.

It amuses me that the new generation of millenial regional pilots are reduced to paying money to allow them to stand in line for hours just to gain a few minutes of groveling time with a major airline.
