Default Discontinuance Question

Does anyone know how a Discontinuance could effect my record if I am unable complete it within the 60 day required period? Does it just fall off of my record? Just curious. Thanks

More details, but generally if you fail to comply within the 60 days, you go back to court and a judgement will be entered.

What do you mean by "Court"?... I was issued a letter of discontinuance on a checkride and am unable to complete the checkride in the 60 days. I was wondering if this will show up in the future when an Airline is looking to hire me.

If you were issued a Letter of Discontinuance, and you were not able to complete the rest of the check ride within 60 days (2 calendar months), then you must start over with the certification process and you lose credit for all those PTS tasks that you satisfactorily completed. I do not believe the letter appears on any PRIA records, nor should it be considered anything "bad".

Not an issue. I would not check the "failed checkride" box over that.

Best thing would be to finish the ride within 60 days, that way there are no worries about having to check a box because of the way the question is asked.

Sorry, I was thinking of a case continuance of a court case. Never heard of a Notice of Discontinuance.

When the checkride can't be completed for reasons beyond the control of the applicant, usually WX or MX.

Close, PRIA records are: enforcements, accidents, etc.

Airman records are checkrides, 8710 applications, notices of disapproval, discontinuance, etc.

While enforcement may be in your airman records, letters of discontinuance, etc. are not in PRIA.

When airlines hire you, they (most) have you sign a disclosure form that allows them to pull both your PRIA and your airman records. This is how they see those other things. Every pilot applying for a commercial pilot job should request a copy of their airman records from OKC.

The only thing that not being able to complete in the 60 days means is that you'll have to take the entire check ride again.
