Default TT 9500+ too much experience?

TT 9500+
121 PIC 2000
121 SIC 6500
Age: 39
4 yrs College deg.

After college, got hired with Colgan for 2 yrs, came to current regional airline in 2007. Took me about 6 1/2 yrs to upgrade. You all know why took 6 1/2 yrs to upgrade. I spent almost 11 yrs working my butt off to get hired with Major airlines. Some people says im over experienced(over 9500+ TT), major will consider me as un-trainable and will not hire. Is it true? I've been working so hard to get hired with major airlines past 20 yrs(education and flight training and all), but after all, I'm over qualified?

Thanks!

Definitely not true.
Know a guy who was recently hired with 15,000 hours after spending 16 years at the same regional.

You're better off with 6500 SIC and 2000 PIC than vice versa. They definitely don't want to hire crusty old dogs set in their left-seat ways, but they'll probably be fine with your situation. Although their ideal civvie candidate seems have 5000 TT and 1500-ish TPIC.

Here's a snapshot of one month of hiring at DL -
civilian - avg 8,000
civilian - avg 4,200 PIC

For 24 months DL's average civilian had 7,600 TT and 4,100 PIC.

You're not over qualified. Depending upon other resumes boxes you have checked you're slightly below average, average, to slightly above average. In other words you're in the ballpark.

Do you have the average military times?

Anything else that sets you apart from the herd? LCA, part of the hiring team, volunteer work, etc.?

Just because you have lots of TT doesn't mean that you're competitive.

Obviously fighter guys are lower. I know of 1,500 hr fighter guys getting hired at the Big 4.
