I am a DC-8 FE and was concerned about the displacement. UPS told me that all the FE's on probation will get an FO slot in SDF. He also added that we will not be forced to ANC because there are plenty of FO postions in SDF. Thank GOD! ANC will be going to the new hires!

Who's picking up the lift the 727s currently fly? who's going to CID now? Do we have enough excess capacity to absorb these routes (hmmm-no) or do you think we'll pick-up some used 757s possibly in the near future?

According to the chart, there are only 8 F/O openings in SDF, 2 in MIA and 1 in ONT. 70 are in ANC. If we have over 200 unfilled vacancies, wouldn't that be reflected in this chart so folks could bid those openings? Also, what happens if a senior F/O bids a CAPT slot? During the displacement bid, will a CAPT be downgraded to F/O? Just curious, new to this stuff! Thanks!

Also, I did a rough count and we have currently about 210 F/Os and F/Es on probation.

just so that everyone knows all the ca's and fo's on the 727 will get whatever airplane they want because the company is getting rid of their current aircraft. if all the 50 ca's and 43 fo's wanted to go to the a300 they would all go there and displace the current most junior pilots on those planes and then those pilots would displace pilots on other aircraft. this has the potential for ALOT of training in the next year.

Don't know about the captains, but alot of the FO's I've been talking to are talking about going to the -8 and some to the 747 classic.

Hey v2,

You've gotta help out a bud! Why aren't you telling those FO's that the -8 sucks?!? They really don't want to come here... I'm kidding. It's a great airplane; hopefully I'll survive the cut...
