Not real surprised that IBT lost this, but am pretty shocked at ALPA. I understand their leadership has to eat, but this is probably the most obvious and easily fixed whipsaw situation in all of aviation right now, and the Air Line Pilots Association union is fighting *against* fixing it. Incredible. It's a complicated situation but I'll probably be shopping my resume quickly if ATI's rank and file don't make moves towards IBT. Can't beat or join someone who is off in the corner beating themselves.

Were the statements in that ruling made by the ATI MEC or ALPA National? If it was made by their MEC it strikes me as no surprise.

Right now our negotiating team is trying to get something equivalent(or better) to a teamster contract. If that doesn't happen better than half will want to go teamsters. Most the new FO's are asking "whats so bad about making money? Why exactly is 1224 bad?"

1224 ( or someone ) is doing a pretty good job of contacting them and briefing them

Thought this was BS but I guess your right. Commuter compensation is essentially better with bonuses and not mentioning flow agreements. So you have to do something to fill the seat.

** FYI ** If you have a colorful past on the ground but have a good flight history. Substance abuse or criminal etc.. ATI will give you a chance and this isn't a bad thing.

Me calling in on an ABX phone line to Flight Control one day.

"Flight Control, this Joe Blow"

"Hey Joe, its J on 22somethingorother. Can I get crew scheduling for a moment?"

"Sure..., um, do you want an ATI or ABX crew scheduler?"

Tell me again how we lost this and how these are 2 separate airlines.. Someone got paid to give out this ruling.

I'll tell you how. It happened when their MEC declared:

"Crewmembers have different collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), different employee benefits, different employee policies and handbooks, and distinguishable uniforms."

We were gonna get it, but when the board learnt we had "distinguishable uniforms", it was a deal breaker.

It is all BS. ATI and ABX are operationally the same company. I am a new guy and it is plain to see.

Anyone thinking of coming to an ATSG carrier: at a regional you will get paid more AND get more flight time. You young pilots need total time not more hotel/crashpad time.

The only way I can tell if they are distinguishable is by looking at the lanyard and ID. Everything is the same dang color, isn't it? Pants, shirts, bars....?

Why so surprised by ALPA's stance on this single carrier filing? After all, this is the same ALPA that determined on its own that the ABX strike was not legal which resulted in 6 ATI scabs crossing the picket line.

One reason for ATSG operating both AOC's therefore one basis for NMB ruling as it did. A development the other two now follow with rising interest. Still doesn't fully explain the equity run-up.
