FDX 2007 Hiring Rumors

Just my take, I think the new SCP will put his fingerprints on this whole process when he takes over in a month. Yep, I know he can't do anything about the bean counters but he may change something in the process. During his "meet and greet" the other night at the AOC, he said he liked the M&G process and would probably keep it. I think he said he'd like to shorten the time spent swimming. I just don't think we're going to hire a bunch of guys in this limbo period.

I am sure albie will give you endless details later but in case you are waiting online: he is talking about flying the lear jets or teaching in the Sim (training Dept). Both historically good ways to work towards the line.

Don't think they have had a selection board since Jul/Aug "06. There's still 50 + that have met the board and still waiting on interviews.

Fecav8r or someone with more time/experience could probably share insights on the process, but what Lag said is basically what I know. We have a few guys on the line who came here after 3 years in corporate or training departments. They seem to have been connected in some way to people there previously and applied for spots when they found out about openings. I had one guy a few years back try for corporate, but they interviewed about a dozen for 1 or 2 slots. Its not an easy process, but it is another avenue.
Thank you Lord again for the postal wave of hiring. It wasn't "easy" when I went through, but it certainly wasn't this hard then to get the shot. Good luck!

Since you're talking about "Internals," remember that Professional Instructors and Corportate pilots owe FedEx 3 years before they can move, whereas handlers and couriers only owe 12 months.
They don't have the advantage of doing the pilot interview during the initial hiring process, but they'll get the Pilot interview when the Pro Instructor or Corporate pilot still has 2 years of waiting to go.
