Default 1000 pilot Air Force recall

Who do we think this will be affecting most in the cargo ranks? Is it even worth discussing since there is probably a much higher number of retired officers in pax flying?

Part of inactive reserve. After you retire you are considered an inactive reservist for 3 years (if my memory is correct). During that time, you may be called back to active duty. So yes, in the market especially.

Really, folks? You believe it is involuntary? The volunteer-only force that we have is going to involuntarily bring back retirees... and that's what DoD wants?

The news stories keep saying "retired" as in served 20+ years and now receiving a pension; but do they really mean "separated"? Big difference. I forget what my IRR commitment was after I retired but I thought it longer for an officer who separated prior to 20 years.

No, they mean "retired".

They also had a Rated Recall Program in 2010. I was retired with over 23 years of active duty service, accepted the recall, and spent 4 more years on active duty. So did a few others I know personally.

This. And while the AF has stated they have no intention to do involuntary recalls, this does give them the authority to do so. And a buddy has told me the volunteer rate has been very low. I would expect a stop loss before an involuntary recall, but who knows these days...

That was the Limited Period Recal Program. Offered to rated and unrated officers. Lots of reserve pilots took advantage of the offer. Several went to staff jobs. Most got an active duty retirement out of it.

Lots of options before they would resort to involuntary recall.
