Hello guys,
What is competitive minimum for new hire these days? Will having b767 type rating but low turbine time (Part 121 500 sic, 2000TT) help to get a better chance to get a call? I am very interested in WGA cause they have international bases. |

Published minimums are 2500 total, but it never hurts to apply and see what happens. Your time in the 767 could be a plus.
Thanks! |

Presently, those airports are approved for homebasing. You can start and end your bidline from those locations at the company’s expense. We used to have lots of pilots living all over the planet and the company paid to get them to work. There was some grandfathering for those guys. From what I understand, if you live in ICN and you are operating in and out of there, there is no hotel. You don’t bid for bases, you bid for days off. Travel is considered day 1. You get paid for your positioning days.

Is it possible to get international bases right after OE? Preferably ICN. Which fleet flies more to Asia? Are those bases could be gone anytime soon?
Thanks! |

Forgive my ignorance. To be based in one of those 4 ... Do I need to have the right to live in either? Or because you are operating into and out of in a gendec makes it no problem? How does it work? Thanks in advance

It is possible, but recommend you ask this question during the interview as well since you will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The international bases are fairly new, so guess they are not going away any time soon.

Not sure, but my guess is in some countries you may need the right to live and in some you may not as long as you don’t overstay your entry permit or visa. It would be good to check on the individual country/base you may be interested in. Being home based means the company will provide you a confirmed airline ticket from your home base on day 1 and will buy you a ticket home on your last day of rotation. No different for international bases. It is up to you to obtain the right to stay in a foreign country or base of your choice.

Anyone from WGA land in ANC yesterday afternoon (7/13) on the MD-11? I took a cool video of it from the ground. PM me if you want it.

Loadmaster life at WGA
Former civilian loadmaster/on board ground handler for the airlines during the Iraq war. Spent a ton of time in the sand box, and days on the A/C.
Unfortunately I can’t renew my medical or I’d be flying. How is life these days for on board loadies? I’ve been out of the game for 15 years, but I miss flying. I know this is a brutal life, but I can’t get it out of my mind. Do they see hotels more often now? I know the pay isn’t ideal. How many days do they spend on board? Any other info on cargo flights would be great. I my experience was wide body Pax flights. |
