The pilots of Western Global are represented by ALPA. This is not the place to work if you don't want to be in a union.

The employees are suing the owners of WG related to "irregularities" with the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). A quick web search of "Western Global Airlines ESOP" will give you a good idea of what's going on.

WG operates using 121 Supplemental rules with duty days up to 30 hours long and 350 hours of flying allowed in 90 days. You can fly 115 hours during your 17 duty days and get zero overtime. Zero credit for deadheading......in middle seat economy class.

WG has a strict policy that prevents employees from being forthcoming on social media. The cheerleading posts from management stooges seem to be encouraged, but it's difficult for line pilots to offer honest opinions if it can be viewed as negative in any way. The stuff written here is not a balanced view of what's going on at WG.

Jim N is a master of selling a bag of 💩 for waaaay more than it is worth. If you were not aware of how he made $400 million selling SouthernAir to Oak Hill Capital years ago and are now shocked that history is repeating….that is on you. The man knows how to make money….for himself. WGA, and Southern under the Neffs, always operated on/beyond the margins of legal & safe to increase profits.

Welcome to APC. First post and already angry. Kinda giving yourself away on who you are. Not too hard to figure out. Your post is certainly interesting and very “balanced”. I will now go to WGA management and ask for permission to interact on social media. In the meantime fire away, let it all out !

Speaking of the Union at WGA, They were voted on property in April 2021 by a 69 to 31% margin of those that voted. In April 2021, there were 19 members on the union organizing committee. As of today, I know at least 12 of them have left WGA. At least 2 of the remaining have interviewed elsewhere. Except for the chairman of the EXCO, it has been a revolving door. They have been through 3 Capt reps and they are on their second sec/treasurer. There were 3 on the negotiating committee. Now there are 2 and both have interviewed elsewhere. For those who didn't want the union, this makes you wonder about the commitment of those that voted for the union. Initially all non-union committee volunteers were fired and replaced with union members. With a lack of union volunteers, we have one committee chaired and run by a non-union volunteer. Most of the new hires want no part of the union. With attrition, especially with the union crusaders leaving, we may be below the 50% support level. So the future of the union is not a guarantee.

What you’re describing is an active and ongoing effort to get rid of ALPA. Given the numerous, severe problems at WG, it’s extremely alarming that management’s main focus is on this sort of nonsense and not on safety and compliance. I don’t know how any legitimate airline can view the world’s premier aviation safety organization as a threat.

The 30%-ers who are leading the anti-ALPA charge all seem to be trapped at WG. Alcohol/drug issues, criminal records, FAA violations, aircraft accidents and/or marginal flying skills prevent some of these people from getting another job. It isn’t taking the new hires long to figure out they’ve been lied to!

And less likely with three engines.

Speaking of, the feds ever investigate the transair thing or forgot about it?
