That's not quite right. It actually went "Bid not what you want to fly for your company, but rather what you best think the company will bump you for training or provide you the most volunteer and draft... And pi$$ on you non-members....and all you over 60 guys don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.."

I may have paraphrased it a bit, but I'm pretty sure that's pretty close to what he meant.

deleted...sorry...I think I mis-read you post...nevermind. Hey, I'm at the very bottom so I agree, but I am also very respectful about the issue.

Its not personal, and it ain't really that hostile. The over 60 can stay till they are 80 on the panel as far as I am concerned.

The slowdown in seat progression and stagnating seniority are the reasons I am against anyone staying in a captain/first officer slot. Lots of folks have argued the merits of same and against the same here...I won't beat that horse. Its bad for me...so I'm against it. Its also bad for Emerald Coast, as any hiring slowdown (including SWA, CAL, DAL, etc) hurts my business. Guys want to stay longer--for financial reasons. I'm on the other side--for financial reasons. What is different from some of the posters here is I've never tried to hide my feelings or the whys.

Its a zero sum game....one side will win and the other will lose. I'm pulling for my side--that's all. (and the flagarant misquote of the JFK quote was pure humor...just in case I failed to pull it off I was attempting to be funny...)

I agree.

Let's be honest.

There is no right or wrong answer.....It's all about personal selfish reason, no matter what side of the issue your on. I see both sides.

I want to retire at 60. That's my selfish reason.

But then again it's not all about me.......but it should be!

I'm with you Albief15. I hope it changes in 14.5 years. They got theirs, now I want mine, and in 14 years I will want theirs again (theirs will be the young guys at that point) It's all about me.

It's a tradition at FedEx.

Back to the subject at hand....what was it....oh yeah, 757s.

I was told by a dude from flight test that the company had made the decision to reconfigure 757s with a 6 display honeywell system.

....it will be reclassified a MD57 and will share a common type rating with the MD11/10.......

No, you've got it all wrong. If they did that they would have to pay 757 guys widebody pay.

The 75s will be retrofitted with steam gauges, five different autopilots and when they remove the autothrottles they will install a non-functional third power lever. This will meet FAA requirements for a common 727/757 type rating which will show up on your ticket as "STEAM BOEING/FEDEX ONLY".

The part about the 6 honeywell displays and fms is true....as far as the rumor goes anyway.
