Actually wouldn’t surprise me if they did fill the seats initially. Atlas has hired quite a few pilots lately with no Turbine PIC time. And upgrades in the 767 and 747 have slowed down.
So for those individuals who want/need the PIC time, the 737 might be for them. It’s either that or go to Mesa ;) |

I think you've entirely missed the point that some of us enjoy the tradeoffs of ACMI flying to the point that we don't want to be burdened with the NB hub-hub turns or sitting thru a sort and are willing to horsetrade to keep the lives we have.
I can't think of many people where I am now who would willingly make the trade for "big 3" pay if it meant losing the type of schedules we get. Insinuating that we're all underpaid unless we're following "big 3" or FedEx type rules is ludicrous. Atlas AAWW (Atlas/Polar/Southern/Titan) wants to expand, and it seems they want to expand A LOT. I believe, if Atlas is to successfully expand A LOT, then they will need an Industry Leading contract. If Atlas wants to expand somewhat, an Industry Standard contract will work. If they keep things as they are, Atlas will shrink. From what we have heard, the last 12 months, Atlas/Southern recruiting new hire numbers have not kept pace with attrition. |
Any word on where these 737-800s will fly or just more cvg hub flying?

The FAA of today is a different machine than what it was. That manifested itself in 2 airframes as of late.

The first two started TPA-RFD, and RFD-TPA.

I’m hearing the first year will be Rockford, rockford and more Rockford. Hub turns from Rockford. CVG is maxed out and not enough room.
I would expect just a couple hundred hours a year for a the first few years. The longer segment stuff will go senior, while the new hires can operate the 737-400 from CVG to STL- that airport hotel is next to the Waffle House is your new home during the day :) |

I heard it was more like the FAA told UPS to bring it in-house. I am surprised that AMZ and DHL have been able to get away with the system as it is now. If I was FDX or UPS, I would have raised the BS flag long ago.
