From the Aussie guys I know working at National, seems like a good gig and much more suited to expats as it's an actual commuting contract on their time, unlike Atlas

Most people look at pay, retirement, benefits, and qol. Most people don't count per diem as income. So if you're looking at per diem, then good for you.

Default Deadhead pay

Apparently 50% on deadhead pay when commuting to and from work as well and any DH during your rotation. So a year 1 FO on $120 an hour commuting 10 hours to work and 10 hours back for a total of 20 hours gets $1200 on top of their hours flown for the month.

Default Loadmaster at National

Former civilian loadmaster/on board ground handler for the airlines during the Iraq war. Spent a ton of time in the sand box, and days on the A/C.

Undoubtedly I can’t renew my medical or I’d be flying.

How is life these days for on board loadies? I’ve been out of the game for 15 years, but I miss flying.

I know this is a brutal life, but I can’t get it out of my mind.

Do they see hotels more often now? I know the pay isn’t ideal.

How many days do they spend on board? Any other info on cargo flights would be great. I my experience was wide body Pax flights.
