Take the first class date at SWA you can get.
Then, IF UPS ever calls you with a class date, make your decision.
DO NOT worry about any potential backlash for your sponsors at any of these companies. It IS just business, and any one of those companies will drop you like a bad habit when things go south.
You need to protect YOUR interests and the well being of your family. Guys have been languishing in the UPS pool for over 2 years. You may never get a class date from them. Do not pass up a class date at SWA.
Good luck.

At least he has his wife's A300 CAP pay to fall back on, unless she blows some more tires in FLL!

I agree 100%. I am not into screwing people over but you have a long career ahead of you and you can't not take a job or stay at a job because you feel bad.

I know of one guy that , I believe, did in fact get to class at AA. I also believe he had just completed IOE right prior to 9/11. Left FDX during 727 CAP upgrade training.

There was a guy in my newhire class that left after six months or so for UAL, because he thought he deserved that payscale, and FDX was never going to pay him what he was worth. I think he finally got recalled over there. Although, looking back, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!

So I was on the crew bus the other night and this is what I heard:
Pilot was hired at CAL, with an upcoming class date.
Same guy was waiting for an interview at FDX or in the Pool at FDX.
CAL called with a class date and the pilot postponed. Shortly thereafter, the Chief Pilot of CAL called an inquired as to why he was postponing his class date. After a few questions, the offer of employment from CAL was withdrawn.
Fast forward and the "new" learning curve. Hired at SWA, went to class at SWA, and 1st choice called with class date. He quit SWA and is now at FDX.
Apparently, SWA was very nice when he resigned.
As for being "forthright" I would highly suggest it, but be aware that the offer of employment from CAL would be (probably be withdrawn).
Take whatever will guarantee a paycheck. Then, if you are unhappy drinking the coolaid, go elsewhere.
