What would you do?

Well, it seems like there are people in HR that don't agree with the pool system but someone that has more power wants it to stay this way. This is what I was told by someone who doesn't agree with it. Unfortunately this person said that it is quite possible some in the pool will never get called. As much as I am the type of person that wants to always "do the right thing", this is exactly why I would not not take another position while in the UPS pool. Good luck to you.

That double negative is going to be skimmed over by the fast readers and give the wrong impression of you feelings. Sort of like " Paris in the the Spring" if you've seen that perception demonstration.

Ask me in a couple of months, if I dont get the call how I am handling the stress! I expalined the situation to SWA and they pretty much told me to let them know if I change my mind.....awesome place...already have the type too....that helps.
I hope I dont swim too long either....Im not very good at it!!!!

Just wondering what some one who has been in the airline profession for a while would do if you had:
- Pool letter from UPS (absolute first choice)
- Job offer from Continental and SWA.
First I consider myself extremely fortunate to have THIS kind of decision to make. Here is the problem, do I take one of the other job offers and leave when UPS calls with a class date or keep waiting for the phone to ring?
I know how long some people have been in the pool at UPS, a2b boxhauler and others. Not sure why this happens, but it does. I have been in the pool a short swim in comparison to others, around three months. I haven’t figured out how they determine who starts when, but several people already started class or have class dates that interviewed after I got the letter. I also seem to have what UPS is looking for "Heavy, International time".
I know lots of people here have been placed in hiring pools before. Just wondering how you would deal with this. I appreciate any advice or funny comments.
BTW if you are wondering why don’t I just keep my current job? just separated from AD.

If we lived in an honorable world, you'd probably call CAL and SWA and ask them for a postponement of your start date, in the hopes that you get a class date from UPS. That way, you'd not take someone's spot in a new hire class, when you have no intention of actually staying there, to begin with. However, being that we are in a "me" society, I'd recommend doing what your conscience dictates, keeping in mind, of course, that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Regardless of your decision, good luck in your career.

BTW...that is exactly what this post is about....I dont want to take a potental job from someone like you at SWA or CAL when I really want to work somewhere else for the next 35 years and would leave when I get the call to start class....SWA is an awesome place, good luck in your interview!

Are you serious??!! How was I "bashing you"? The other post has nothing to do with this one....this one is about advice on my situation from some people that have been around for a while and probably been faced with the same problem....the other was about reservists using drill pay to augment the usually very low pay of a probational employee.....
