i thought the "furlough" was a back handed invitation to become a flight supervisor.

Was their an overtime ban/stop/self stop? ABX is furloughing and overtime is so rampant that we have many guys working if not every day almost every day each month and selling back their vacation. It is not right that people are making huge amounts of cash while guys are being furloughed. Thanks!

I agree ABX and UPS are not in the same league. However, you can still compare both pilot groups. The question was asked because members of 1224 do not understand how to fix this apparent cancer which seems to plague our group. I'm not sure why some folks at ABX are not working for UPS. If you're implying that we're less than qualified, you're very mistaken. We all fly 767s or douglas equipment to similar destinations with equal aplomb. I doubt our inherent selfishness precludes us from working at UPS although it explains why few of us apply. Simply, all of us have worked here 8+ years and are raising families just like you. I guess that is selfishness. I believe the original poster is serious in his inquiry. We need the benefit of experiences that appear to work. Thanks.

Amen, HMP

My opinion is at AA picking up of open time is not shunned because the one's on furlough were acquired, not hired. just an opinion.

That's not accurate FliFast. There are plenty of AA guys on the street that aren't former TWA. I know a whole bunch of them.

To add...I did start this post to look at what has worked at other airlines. At ABX we need to fix not only the overtime, but the division of senior versus junior. Our most junior pilot is working in his 6th year. We have all payed our dues: both union and the figuritive ones. It is time our union steps up and says "working double your scheduled days in a month (basically every day) while the company furloughs is morally wrong".

Regardless of were we all work, we are all after the same goal: security for our families, and maybe making life a little easier on the next generation.
