1800 + 200 block hours a year on the 737... you will be at Southern a VERY long time before any Major considers you. Stay at the Regionals, or apply to another Regional with a flow. Coming to Southern will be a step back in your career progression, HR knows this, thats why they're interviewing you with 1800 hours. They know you will be trapped for many years. Therefore, slowing the attrition at Southern down.

I know this has been discussed on previous southern posts, but you never know what to believe. What’s the deal with their 737’s, are they losing them all? Interviewing with 1800 TT and 300 SIC on a CRJ. Any insight on making the jump? Flying cargo at night definitely interests me, and I’m obviously over a year out from upgrading at my regional. Thanks in advance for the insight
Do not make a move like this... why not stay where you are at? You are new to the game. Stick it out for a few years where you are and upgrade. Majors are hiring left and right. There should be attrition at your airline to allow you to advance rapidly. Enjoy the day flying lol.

This is good advice. Every time I made a move thinking a certain amount of time or type rating would get me through the door someplace great, well, I'm at Atlas. If I could talk to myself 20 years ago I'd just tell myself not to worry so much. I wasted a lot of time and effort chasing down doors that didn't open. I'd be in the same or better position if I just chilled out and didn't give a damn.

Without 1,000 PIC and a 4 year degree, you stand almost no chance of getting hired at a major. Build time quickly at the regionals, get to the 6,000+ hour range that seems to be marketable, and make sure you have a 4 year degree. Stay away from any ACMI company until you’re already highly marketable at the majors. Once you can check all of the boxes, reevaluate the ACMI market if that is somewhere you want to go. Until then, your only focus should be quickly building a quality resume.
