Redeye,
You're right, the majority has spoken and I am part of the group. I have already dressed-right, and am singing in unison to the cadence.
I don't have to like it.
Yeah, that's what I said to you old geezers after the original Age 60 vote last year.....both about the vote, and your careers.....see what that got me.

I In the future i think you will see that these Bases are going to grow quite large in the years to come. This is where the bulk of our future growth will occur. I believe this is what the MEC focused on.
As for being a Geezer, I am not sure I qualify. But the Age 60 affects me just as negatively as you. My upward movement each year will be curtailed just as yours will. I just happen to be senior to you (probably).
As far as the RLA. You won't find any Lawyers who can "gaurantee" RLA protections or SCOPE for that matter. This is new territory for US Airlines with US pilots based and living abroad.
Pan AM did have a small 727 operation in Berlin and but it was eventually closed by Delta after the purchase.
Don't think UPS MGT isn't watching. They always follow FedEx's lead.
They will probably announce an ASIA Base within 2 years.
My prediction is we will have 500-800 FedEx pilots assigned to FDA's by 2012.
Maybe more.
As for MESA I doubt many pilots will look to them in CHINA as a career or the US for that matter. They just had 400 pilots quit.
I can't say the Same for FedEx HKG or Paris for that matter. Noboday is quitting here and you and I both know guys would offer their first born to work here, even if it means going to HKG making $149/hour and paying $4200 for rent. OOPS make that $1500
out of pocket. $4200-2700= 1500.

Your right you don't have to like it. I am not elated but feel in the long term this will work out to benefit FedEx pilots. The Lack of Cola and housing sux, no argument.

Meanwhile, it is just more junior guys that will have to eat the shiat sandwich we just voted in every day.
Congrats guys, we did ourselves proud.

I am amazed at the turn out. I wonder if it was those prodding letters from our Union leaders.
I am not to thrilled with the outcome. But thats the way the ball bounces.
It will be interesting to see how all of the fuzzy details will play out....tax equalization, STV pay to and from, the lovely ride from HKG-CAN.
And, with the SIG yanking approval for the 2 hour ride the MD guys do, how is that going to play out for the 3+ hour ride from HKG-CAN. Vewy intewesting.
Guess I ought to start packing for MEM. Depressing thought!

Of course I accept the outcome...I'm just torked because I think the STV is going to slap me in the face, oh yea, STV's are a vacation...right?
I sure hope we all pay close attention to how all of the gray areas in the LOA play out...you know, what we were told/what was implied VS. reality.

Maybe we can make improving the FDA a cornerstone in the next contract. Just like QOL was for this one. Anyone in the Boeing or Airbus can vouch that the latest bid packs have improved QOL. Scope was a cornerstone too. But now it is even better than before with the LOA.
Lack of sleep brings out the sarcasm.

You got that right!

Right on. This was a huge error in judgement and it will cost us in the long run. The company now knows we will blindly accept whatever they can con the NC into selling the rank-and-file.
