Question 727 MEM Second Officer # Differences ??

Perhaps you old heads can answer this one......

Why are there differences between the number of total 727 Mem SOs listed on the "Sep Bid Pack Seniority List" and the total number on the "Bid Percentiles" for the DC-10 Excess bid?

More specifically, the Sep Bid Pack Seniority List shows 414 total, with 70 in a "pay only" status....while the "Bid Percentiles" for the DC-10 excess bid show 365 total, to include 42 new 727 SOs who are coming off the DC-10 from the excess bid --- which effectively means there are only 323 current 727 SOs.

????

Are the lower "Bid Percentile" numbers somehow "forward looking" and already remove current SOs who are slotted to attend upgrade training in other aircraft?

First I thought the "pay only" guys may be the difference; however, after a quick scan I see them on both lists?

Any thoughts?

Any solid answers?

...just trying to understand on how it all works.

Thanks!

That's dead on. The bid percentile is a picture of what the seniority will look like when everyone is done with training.

I noticed that crewmembers out on medical or some other leave of absences will not normally show up in the bid pack. The bidding percentiles on the practice bid have everyone listed. I've seen names on there that I haven't heard in years due to injuries or other long term problems.

Also, LCAs that are being paid passover show up in the bidpack (whether or not they're pay only), but only show up on the seniority list that they're being paid for, not in the 727 seniority list.
