We are in quite a bit of turmoil which makes it hard to say. We just had an excess bid in the DC-10 and there is a rumor of an excess bid coming in the B-727. We are at the end of the last big bid's training cycle which means we are due for a vacancy bid in the MD-11 and A-300. Add to that the uncertainty of the change to the retirement age, adding the B-777 and B-757, and opening two Foreign Domiciles while closing one other one.

All of this means interviews and hiring are probably on hold for the next few months. Not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure.

I wouldn't turn anything else down while waiting on us.

Especially if you have school-aged children or any attachment beyond more than 500 hundred pounds of your belongings.

What else are they going to do with all those guys in the back seat?

I also think there will be some excess going on in the Boeing with the next bid.

Every over 60 FE is one less pilot we need. Sorry, but there's a WHOLE lot of these guys that are sticking around.

Last I heard was that the company was considering a vacancy bid with a REALLY long training cycle - one that would all but eliminate the re-training of >60 guys.

While we are on the subject of FedEx interviews ... I received a call from an active (not furloughed) NWA military friend that I have been attempting to get an interview here for some time. He said he'd heard from more than one person that the restriction on hiring active legacy guys (JL policy I believe?) had changed with the new SCP? I told him I had not heard or read that. Anybody out there have more current info than I do? Thanks ...

Had dinner with a NWA bud last night. He said that 10-year guys have been going to UPS. They claim the break-even point is at about 3 years.

I'd like to see a change in that policy also. Hope what your friend heard is correct.
