No we haven't flown out of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport for quite some time. Bases are: FAT MWA MYR SBA DHN PDX BKW CRW AVL GSP SAV HSV DNV LCK IND. Charter is on-demand cargo, mostly automotive parts, and involves sitting around on your phone and not flying.

People say, I am the way I am because of 1,675 hrs spent in the Shorts 330/360 at Allegheny Commuter. But flying that airplane in the overcrowded East Coast Corridor and trying to fit a 160 kt airplane, non-autopilot, non pressurized, flying brick into jet traffic aircraft airports is good training for the bigger and better jobs out there.
The Shorts is hot in the Summer and it not uncommon that have the floors frozen in the Winter. Above the First Officer is the ditching hatch, which usually leaks, so if you fly the Shorts from the right seat, remember to wear a hefty bag so you don't get rain or de-icing fluid on yourself.
But all in all, it was my first airline job back with Orville and Wilbur so it remains near and dear to me.
Good Luck if you get to fly it and and remember the hefty bag.

Is ACC the carrier that flies in SDF to supplement our sort (UPS). I'm based in ANC so I really don't get thru SDF except to change planes enroute to work or home.
As an aside, I used to fly to AVP-Avoca Airport back in the early 90's. I always thought is was a tricky airport with slopes associated with Montage Ski resort just East of the field and the usual lousy weather in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Back to your regularly scheduled program......

And if the ditching hatch doesn't leak ... then there's TOO much caulk/glue/etc jammed in there to get it open anyway. So keep that in mind !

CC,
I'm not sure what you guys did over at Penn, but at Suburban when we saw a line of Thunderstorms, we would turn off the Wx radar and just barrel through it...the Shorts was a tank !!
Ahhh fond memories....lol.
Happy Holidays to you two....

RADAR ? ... You had radar in your Shorts ? Wimps !
I bet it was even that COLOR radar, not the monochrome one.
The Shorts is the only turbine wide body that cannot outrun a line of T-storms. Couldn't top them either ... Didn't carry much ice very well either ... Wasn't very quiet ... wasn't very warm in the winter ... wasn't very cool in the summer ...

BUT it did have a lav and a galley with a soda cart. Did yours have a blender ?

Fond memories indeed ... not to be forgotten !
Happy New Year back at you !

Compared to the Dash or 1900 in similar icing, only lost 5-10 knots ...

Sorry, the Shorts was/is still a pig ... that serves its purpose well !

I am currently an F/O for ACC. To the day I have 450TT and 50MEturbine. Upgrade time is only restricted by the total time you have. If you come to the company with 1200TT you will be typed in the Shorts and fly the line for a month as an F/O before flying as captain. Some people in my class went into training with the flight time and got to the sim and turned down the type rating and went for F/O. The company is very short on Captains. If you have the time and you stick with it, you will most likely be a captain. The company has on-demand cargo charter and scheduled runs for DHL and UPS. I can only speak for the scheduled runs, you will log block time of around 60-90 hours per month. There are some bases in Oregon and California that will log less than 50 per month. Send me a message with any other questions.
