I will buy that. I have changed the wording to say, "...the trouncing you took...."

Yes, you were trounced (or, trounced yourself, perhaps). By a vote of 93%, wasn't it?

I believe that it is dawning on an increasing number of pilots that ALPA is not a union in any meaningful sense of the word. They can elect anyone they want as block reps but it will not change the direction that the profession and the FedEx pilots are heading. Everyone that is elected is constrained by the ALPA "model" itself; the system is incapable of change and it is damaging your profession. If you wish to keep paying for this...well, you really have no choice now...you will keep paying for this.

Oddly enough, there are members of the MEC who know that the LEC system of leadership is obsolete and cannot change itself. Unfortunately, none have been willing to put themselves at risk in order to force change because that would take an act of rebellion. One prominent member of the MEC told me over lunch that, "I do not want to be known as a renegade." When that idea is one's primary driving motivation in life, there is little possibility that one will engage in the kind of "civil disobedience" that is required to knock things off of dead center. Indeed, it is only those who are willing to "embarrass" themselves over the short term who may be catalysts for change of the magnitude needed in this case.

It is kind of like being an AerisArmis, never willing to stand up for what he believes in by putting his name on his ridiculing statements. After a while, people figure out that it is all talk just as the company has figured out that the pilots are all talk. Or, you can see the resignation in recent posts by RedeyeAV8r as he attempts to rationalize the MEC's actions and the FedEx pilot position in the industry. It is just too hard for many people to get out of their comfort zones and address reality straight up: This MEC, this "union," and this profession are a mess because of their persistent unprincipled behavior. This needs to change, and you are, at the moment, impeding that change.

Labor lost another 360,000 members last year and now represents only 7.4% of the private workforce, the lowest in modern recorded history. ALPA is strategically impotent and everyone knows it. What more evidence is needed that something has to give?

Bob

First of all, Bobbie, you don't make the rules. Second, since you are so "open", tell us which "promenent" MEC member had lunch with a non-dues paying, non-member like you. Or, then again, maybe you just made it up and , "it's all talk". BTW, I have ridiculed you in the past and am quite happy to do it again, but pointing out your misstatement by using the the word "we" to describe your participation in our contract negotiations was just a factual correction. Thank you for changing it, we don't want someone wearing the other teams jersey in our huddle.

Oooooh, oooooooh. Can I have lunch with you too Bob?

Maybe you should raffle off lunch dates so that a few lucky, dues paying members could benefit from the infinite wisdom you possess on all matters dealing with labor, unions, and airlines.

Could I please, please, oh pretty please be the first one to "enjoy" a fine meal and enlightened conversation over a lifted salad in the AOC cafeteria with you?

Sell enough of those and maybe you could recoup some of those million dollars you gave up.

What a flaming, self-centered doooooooooooouchebag!

I do not care what your name is. But I do know that anyone who wants real credibility in America must put there name on what they write, especially when it is the juvenile, ridiculous, accusatory, and, sometimes, vile stuff that shows up on this board.

I have devoted plenty of volunteer time and effort to pilot causes over the last nearly 30 years in the airline business. People know that they can trust me to at least want to do the right thing. You, on the other hand, have nothing to offer. Maybe that is why you do not wish to come out of the woodwork. But, if you and people like Armis and Bohica want to begin to establish some credibility, put your name and credentials out there for everyone else to see. Put yourself on the line for what you believe in. It is painless and you can do it. I know you can. Go for it, dudes.

I don't know Bob, you put your name out there and you have absolutely no credibility.

I think an anonymous poster who actually writes intelligent, rational comments has a lot more credibility than some lunatic who claims to have all the answers to everything short of world hunger but for some reason can't get anybody to listen to him.

Sound familiar? It should, because you are him. The lunatic, that is.

What, exactly, are your credentials? Oh lets see, you've been a pilot since the 80's. Big deal, probably 80% of our pilots have too. You struck at CAL. Good on you. You are a line pilot who for some reason (that you choose, with all your credibility, to not discuss) haven't been able or are unwilling to upgrade to a Captain seat after 15-20 years at FedEx. What credibility does that bring?

What, exactly, do you bring to the table that the rest of the aviation industry could only hope to possess in its wildest dreams, or your wildest illusions of grandeur?

Why then, do you talk down to the rest of the world with your pompous "articles" about train wrecks and how we're being hoodwinked by ALPA, and expect anybody to take anything you "write" seriously? And why should they?

Do tell Bob, do tell.

I think you are just so stupid that you used your real name when you signed up not realizing that internet forums were normally frequented by anonymous posters. That is just my theory though.

Damn. That irritating voice is returning. Oh, well. I'll just ignore it. It doesn't have anything to say that I would be interested in anyway.

Boobie, the Federalist Papers, thought by many to have been the most important documents in the forming of our country were anonymous. Oops, there goes your credibility. Oops, I forgot, as a non-dues paying non-member freeloader, you don't have any. Oops, I accused you of a rediculous statement in a vile way, how juvenile! BTW,w hen can we expect the next chapter in Boobie Lightpurple's "Mein Kampf"? My parrot needs new cage liner!
