Default LAX Fed Ex Shuttle?

Hi,
I am jump seating into LAX at 5am on a pax carrier this week and was wondering if Fed Ex offered a shuttle from the terminal to the ramp? If not, do the cab drivers give you a hard time for the 1-2 mile fare?
Thanks

Oh...also, if you drive to the ramp, where is the pilot parking and do you need a permit or just show your badge?

They do offer a shuttle but it's for LAX domicile pilots only - you have to give them your id# and sign a form, etc. Cabs aren't bad - they've got the old minimal airport charge of like $20 though.

The pilot parking lot is the same one that is used by all of the FedEx employees. It's the big one immediately south of the hub building. There is no permit required for parking in 99% of the lot. There are a few specifically designated spots for crews to use especially during peak. To park there you'll need a permit. S.W. (the LAX FOS/real chief pilot and a total sweetheart) can get you one if you're based there.

If push comes to shove take the "B" Parking Lot shuttle and walk. The "G" bus gets you a little bit closer but they don't start running till 6am. The taxi is $17.50 min fare no matter where you go. So if you're in a rush or can expense it, take a cab; if you got time you can take the bus and walk. The walk is about 1 mile and only takes 15-20 minutes at a normal pace.
