Employee Shuttle to Cargo at JFK?
Anybody here know if there is any kind of employee shuttle bus that goes to the cargo side of JFK either from Federal Circle or the pax terminals?
I've got some long jfk layovers coming up during which I'll be driving a rental car home and back (hence Federal Circle). On the second one I'll be driving my own vehicle back and parking at long term (Lefferts Blvd. if I remember from six years ago) and taking the airtrain to either Federal Circle or the pax terminals depending on where the shuttle runs from to cargo (if there is one!)

I was just at federal circle last night and I believe I saw busses that will take you to the cargo areas. I have not used them yet so I can't be specific. Good luck.

It's been a few years since I've been there, so please double-check....
The Long Island "JFK Flyer" bus used to drive by the cargo side. I used them to get from FedEx to the pax terminal. But again, it was 5 years ago, so please check before you try.

The last time I deadheaded into JFK, I took a taxi to the cargo side. The taxi driver said he didn't know where FedEx was. The dispatcher gave him directions 3 times. The dispatcher, seeing the guy was still pretty confused, looked at me and said, "$12 MAX!" When we finally arrived at FedEx the meter said $23. I gave him $12 and started to get out of the cab. The driver made an issue out of the meter saying $23. I asked him to call the cops ... he decided to take my $12 instead.

I've used the shuttle to the Hilton Garden Inn, from Federal Circle, then had the driver drop me off in the cargo area (it is only about 1/3 mile tops) good tip was cheaper than the cab fare.

Rental Car?
If you use the Hilton Garden Inn shuttle from Fed. Circle, there is an Enterprise one block behind the hotel that is open late. You might be able to leave your personal car in the Ramada parking lot across the street, by the underpass. It seems fairly secure and they have a larger lot.

Thanks everyone for the info.
The Hertz guy drove me back to DHL after I returned the car. I'm bringing my own vehicle next time and found out I may be able to get a temporary pass to park on their lot for a couple of days. If that doesn't work I'll probably use the long term lot, then airtrain to Federal circle to catch a bus. That or the Doubletree lot for $20 a day...
