Not to change the subject too much, but....

So what if new hires or junior pilots "fly the big jet" and go "overseas"? What do you think happens at all the other operators of MD-11's and 747's, like World, Omni, Kalitta, etc? FedEx guys seem to think that this is such a huge deal, and oh no, the sky will fall if you don't sit in the back of the Boeing for three years. Didn't we all come here with captain experience?

We should be hiring pilots that can handle this, and training pilots to handle this.

That doesn't mean that someone has to have actual previous experience in heavies and overseas. That means we need to hire the ones that can be trained, and have a stellar training program to equip them properly.

Oh my friends........the real wailing and gnashing of teeth is still to come. If SVT is instituted, the first folks to be tapped for APR, JUN, NOV and especially DEC will not be happy. Especially if they have young kids. Also, I heard several SFS folks declaring they were P-bidding HKG "just to mess w/the system". Don't quite understand it.......the only thing that accomplishes is to make it more difficult for fellow crewmebers trying to make serious life/career decisions. But as always some people never grow up.

 But if we put junior pilots in the left seat or, God forbid, have a junior pilot in BOTH seats, we might have some accidents and hurt our outstanding safety record and have hull losses and bend metal and uh..... oh .... never mind.

Maybe a little new blood in the left seat is just what we need.

Big difference IMHO is that the training here just isn't up to the task. Look at all the turbulence created from just putting newhires in the gucci jet in ANC a while back. It is quite telling that even the management seems concerned about the adequacy of their own training (or should I say hazing) programs.

Just edited my first reply- had some nice PC things to say so I wouldn't p!ss anyone off. But it comes down to this......

I wonder what that Enders Report said about it?

Junior pilots in FDAs

Anyone here can do the flying. The problem is only the junior people are bidding it(maybe) because a Fortune 500 company gave(and we approved) a joke of an Expat package. FDA flying could and should be a good deal that all seniority levels could enjoy, not a punishment or seat enhancer for new guys.

That is indeed the case.....most of the guys in SFS are bound elsewhere with primaries and secondary openings. I have talked to a few of my buddies over there and they say it is total smoke and mirrors. We may have 3 guys bidding HKG when this is all said and done.

But it is just a practice Bid. They all might not bid it for real so lets wait and see before you jump all over them.

You all need to realize that just because the majority of SFS guys were vehemently against the LOA, for good reasons, they have established(most of them anyway) a life in Asia and have been there a long time. They own houses, have families, like Asia, etc. Just because they were vocal against the LOA, doesnt mean they should uproot themselves just because the POS got voted in. Think about it.
